Mrs.
Tammy Barton has been a teacher at Ransom Middle School
since 1999. While at Ransom, he has taught Reading, English,
U.S. History and Civics.
In
addition to teaching Civics, Mr. Brown is Social Sciences
Department Chair and serves as a Faculty Advisor for the
Ransom Middle School Honor Society.
Mr.
Brown recently participated in the Florida State Supreme
Court's Justice Teaching Institute (April 2005) and completed
the Florida Law Related Education Association, Inc. sponsored
We The People: The Citizen and The Constitution seminar
(June 2005).
Mr.
Brown states that he thoroughly enjoys working with all
of his students, but takes great pride in those students
who demonstrate a sincere interest in learning about their
nation and their rights as American citizens.
Mr.
Brown was also recently recognized by the Florida Council
for the Social Studies
as being one of the Outstanding Social Studies Teachers
for 2005. |

Jefferis

Mrs.
Emily Jefferis is Ransom's Teacher of The year for 2005-2006.
Mrs.
Jefferis has been teaching art at Ransom for the past two years.
Prior to coming to Ransom, Mrs. Jefferis taught at Tate Senior
High School and Blue Angels Elementary School.
Mrs.
Jefferis obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from College of
Wooster in Ohio and her Masters of Education from the University
of West Florida.
Mrs.
Jefferis has stated that her fondest memory of being an educator
is when her former students return to see her and share how they
are using art in their lives.
Mrs.
Jefferis is married to her husband, Jeff, and they have two children
--- daughter Allison and son Darren.
Finally,
Mrs. Jefferis is in the process of forming an art club for those
students who want to develop their creative side.

Sue
Ann Young
Special Education
|
Mrs.
Sue Ann Young is Ransom's Teacher of The year for 2004-2005.
She
was also the Wal-Mart Teacher of The Year during 2003.
Mrs.
Young has been at Ransom Middle School since 1994 and previously
worked at Bellview Middle School (14 years). She also tutored
at the Community Mental Health Center and the Center for Learning.
Mrs.
Young attended Pensacola Junior College and the University of
West Florida and has a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education
and Elementary Education. She is currently working on her Reading
Endorsement.
Mrs.
Young's fondest educational memory has been teaching adults to
read. She also cherishes the letters of thanks that she receives
from parents who appreciate the hard work that she has done in
order to help their children.
Mrs.
Young is also very proud of her family. She has been married for
31 years and has three daughters: Emily (27), Molly (23), and
Sophia (20). |

Bonnie
Exner
8th Grade Civics
Mrs.
Bonnie Exner, a 28 year teacher, is Ransom Middle School's Teacher
of the Year for 2001-2002. She was nominated and elected
by her fellow teachers at Ransom and is proud to be RMS's candidate
for the Escambia County Teacher of The Year!
Mrs.
Exner is certified to teach Language Arts grades 6-12, and History
grades 7-12 in the State of Florida. She has taught 14 years
of Language Arts and is now into her 14th year as a Social Studies
teacher. Mrs. Exner transferred to RMS in 1994 from Workman
middle school. She says that she really enjoys working with
the students at Ransom and the faculty is one of the best in the
county.
Mrs.
Exner's philosophy of education is simple- her role is to provide
a positive learning environment in which her students can advance
their learning at their own individual pace. Open discussions,
debates, and free exchange of ideas are always welcome in her
Civics classes because Mrs. Exner understands that students learn
so much from their peers' open exchange of ideas.
Respecting
individual differences is the standard and norm in Mrs. Exner's
Civics classes. She is proud of the fact that many of her
students come back to visit her and thank her for what she has
taught them. |

Nancy
O'Neal
6th
Grade Science
Since
1982, Mrs. Nancy O'Neal, proud RMS Tiger and award winning science
teacher, has prowled the halls of Ransom. This year, the
administration, faculty, and staff are pleased to have Mrs. O'Neal
represent our great school as Ransom's 2001 Teacher of the Year!!
Her
talent to teach and her love of teaching are apparent to all who
know her. Mrs. O'Neal has served as team leader since her
first year at Ransom, always ready and willing to assist her fellow
teachers in making RMS a very special place for middle schoolers.
Knowing the importance it will have in her students' future, Nancy
integrates technology into every aspect of her teaching and encourages
her peers to do the same. Her students work hard every day
and will tell anyone who asks that Mrs. O'Neal is a super teacher.
She gets them involved in exciting new projects each year
and devotes countless hours preparing her classes. Teachers
at Ransom Middle School are proud to announce their choice for
Teacher of the Year, 2000-2001. |

Grade History
Bryan
Alvaré has been teaching history for four years in Escambia
County - the past three years here at Ransom Middle School. Administration,
faculty, staff and students are pleased to recognize Mr. Alvaré
as our school's Teacher of the Year!
According
to Mr. Alvaré, "This year has been my best year so far
- my students have been terrific for the most part. Having students
who keep good attitudes makes it much nicer to teach them. I want
them to enjoy my class, but take with them skills and success
that will help them in the future."

Specialist
During
the past five years, Valerie has proven to be an extremely efficient
and dynamic addition to the Ransom staff. Teachers know that she
is always willing to assist them and their students in any manner
possible. Her sincere desire and ability to find and share the
latest and most appropriate information available in any subject
for any teacher has made her a very popular asset. In addition,
her intelligence combined with her cheerful attitude make her
one of those individuals that everyone wishes to have as a friend.
