About the ensemble
The Ransom Percussion Ensemble was founded during the 2002-2003 school
year. The ensemble was formed at the request of the highly motivated &
talented 8th Grade class of 2003. All of the original members are now
freshmen in college In fact, many past members of the ensemble are
now members of the Tate Band. The Percussion Ensemble made their
first official debut at the Lipscomb Fall Festival in 2002.

Rehearsals
The ensemble rehearses every Friday from 8:00-8:45am. The
ensemble also rehearses on some weekday afternoons & Saturday mornings.
The ensemble is open to all Advanced Percussion students. Each student
must audition for Mrs. Walker. Students must also be dedicated &
disciplined students.
Music
The ensemble performs various types of music during the year. The
ensemble performs various styles of music. Mallets are essential to
membership in the group. Many of the pieces studied are from a series of
books called “Groovesicles” & “Rhythmsicles” published by Row-Loff

Uniform
The uniform varies on the type of concert venue. Band T-shirts & jeans will
be worn at most performances. In the spring, we will wear Hawaiian shirts &
tan shorts or jeans. Parents will be made aware the uniform before each
performance.
