Lockers –

·         Each student has a locker.

·         Flute & Clarinet students must share a locker. You may choose your locker partner.

·         There is a $5 replacement fee for lost locks.

·         Students caught messing with another student’s locker will be given a referral.

·         KEEP YOUR LOCK LOCKED AT ALL TIMES!!

·         Cases must be put back in your locker during class due to space issues.

 

Instruments –

·         You are responsible for your instrument. You are responsible for supplies. .

·         Please wait for the home room bell to put up your instrument.

·         Do not come early to the band room unless you need to buy

    supplies or ask your director a question.

·         Each time you forget your instrument, book, pencil or planner, 5 points

    will be deducted from your daily grade.

·         Treat your instrument with care. Mishandling only leads to repair

    problems. Repairs cost money.

Essential Elements 2000 Book (We will pass out the books.)

Planner or Assignment Pad

Research Folder – Symphonic Band Only

Focus Folder – All Classes

Highlighter (percussion only)

Band Folder (We will give you a folder.)

 

Class Rules & Expectations –

The beginner classes are much larger than core academic classes. It is for

this reason that you must follow all the class rules.

A class that large must have cooperation from all students.

1.       NO GUM, CANDY, FOOD, OR DRINK  (You will receive a referral if

caught with these items.)

2.     You must come in quietly and get out your instrument. Please put your

case back in the locker.

3.     Please put your book bag in or against your locker.

4.     No talking when the director is at the podium.

5.     Raise your hand if you have a question.

6.     Remember to write your assignments in your planner. Parents check

the planner on a daily basis for assignments.

7.     We assign homework each night.

 

What is a pass-off?

Each student will have a list of pass-offs in their band folder.

A pass-off is a line that a student must play successfully for the director.

A pass-off chart is located in the band room. Students can chart their progress.

 

What is a playing test?

Students receive a numeric grade for their performance of the scales or

exercise for that day.

 

 What is a practice record?

These are due every Monday.

 A minimum of 210 minutes must be recorded each week.

A parent must sign your record.

The PR slot is by the door.
