The nine weeks grading period will be based on the following criteria.  Some additions or deletions may occur during the year.

• Daily Participation                                100 points possible
• Scale Tests                                          100 points possible
• Playing Tests                                        100 points possible
• Theory Homework/Classwork                100 points possible
• Practice Records                                  100points possible
• Instrument Inspections             100 points possible
• Rehearsals/Performances                     100 points possible

Each student will begin the nine weeks with 100 points. 5 points will be deducted in each instance for failure to meet the following requirements:

1. Bringing Materials (instrument, neck strap, reeds, books, mouthpiece, band folder, pencil, hand-outs, etc.)
2. Sitting with correct posture.
3. Cleaning up after class.
4. Returning instrument to locker. This includes putting your case back in your locker during class.
5. Demonstrating good behavior during class. This includes: no gum, candy, or food, paying attention, raising your hand for a question, and no excessive talking during class.

Students will receive numerical grades for each scale test.

Students also have lines from their book or music to play for a grade. 

Playing tests may be taken in class or individually depending on the assignments.

Theory tests will be given once a week depending on class time. Quiz grades will be averaged for a final theory grade. Theory Tests will cover subjects covered in class. Subjects will range from note names, note values, vocabulary, etc.

Practice records are due every Tuesday.  Practice records are worth 15 points each.  Practice Records returned on Wednesday will receive half credit. Please use the practice record passed out in class. 210 minutes required per record for full credit.
