Band Directors

Text Box: Mrs. Walker will begin her 9th year as the Band Director at Ransom Middle School.  Under her direction, the Symphonic Band has earned Consecutive Superior Ratings at District Band Festival. In January 2005, Mrs. Walker accepted an award from FBA on behalf of the Symphonic Band for 5 Years of Consecutive Superior Ratings. The Symphonic Band has also received Superior Ratings & Best In Class awards at festivals in Tampa, Orlando, & Atlanta.  The Jazz Band also receives Superior Ratings at District Jazz Festival. The Jazz Band was a part of Magic Music Days in November 2004. The Jazz Band was also treated to a Jazz Clinic at Disney World with professional Disney musicians. Mrs. Walker received her B.S.E in music education from the University of Alabama in 1997.  During her years at the University of Alabama, she was a member of the Million Dollar Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Quota Brass Quintet, Jazz Band, Basketball Pep Band & Mu Phi Epsilon, an honorary music society. As a member of the Million Dollar Band, she attended the Sugar (where Alabama won its 12th National Title), Gator, Citrus & Outback Bowls.      Prior to Ransom, Mrs. Walker was the Band Director at UMS-Wright Preparatory School in Mobile, Alabama. There her bands received superior ratings at District Festivals & festivals in Atlanta, & Myrtle Beach.     Her professional memberships include: FMEA, FBA, NBA, Percussive Arts Society & the Million Dollar Band Alumni Association. Mrs. Walker is married to Chris, who she met while in the Million Dollar Marching Band at Alabama. In fact, Mrs. Walker, her husband (trombone), and her brother (trombone) & sister-in-law (French horn) were all members of the Million Dollar Band. Mrs. Walker & her husband are the proud parents of  Andrew.  Mrs. Walker also enjoys working in her yard, going to the beach, collecting shells, and of course following the greatest college football tradition in the world…Alabama Football.
