Mrs. Sharon Godwin received her Bachelor of Music Educaiton at the University of West Florida.

She began teaching at Ransom Middle School in January 2007 upon Mrs. Warren's retirement.

She taught general music and chorus at Escambia Westgate for the past 16 1/2 years, preceded by two years at King Middle School in Milton, Florida.

While at King Middle School, Mrs. Godwin continued to expand the chorus program by being involved in Solo and Ensemble Festivals as well as District Festivals.

The chorus received straight superior ratings for their first time to ever participate in District Festivals.

While as Escambia Westgate, Mrs. Godwin was among the ten finalists for Teacher of the Year as well as being selected by her colleagues as the Most Positive Teacher.

She developed many new programs and events at Escambia Westgate along with a new chorus program with the autisitic, mentally, and physically challenged children. The chorus was involved in District Festival (MPA), Solo and Ensemble Festivals, and performed in many events around the county such as PTA Volunteer Recognition, the OJT Fair, and Arts Festival.

She is a member of the Escambia County Music Teachers Association, Florida Music Educators Association, and Florida Vocal Association.

Mrs. Godwin and her husband, Donnie, are the proud parents of three children. Chad, a junior at The University of Florida (GO GATORS !!!), Katelyn, a seventh grader at Ransom (and in the chorus), and Seth, a second grader at Beulah Elementary.

Mrs. Godwin is an active member of Olive Baptist Church where he had been involved with the Children, Youth, and Adult choirs.

She is Very Excited To Be A Ransom Tiger !!!

Mrs. Malinda Hawks

Mrs. Malinda Hawks received her Bachelor of Music Education at the University of West Florida.

While attending West Florida she met Mrs. Godwin and even accompanied Mrs. Godwin in her final voice recital!

Mrs. Hawks nor Mrs. Godwin had any idea that their paths would cross again in the future.

Mrs. Hawks first subbed in Escambia County for several years. She was eventually hired to teach Elementary Music at four different schools.

After three years of traveling to different schools, Mrs. Hawks was hired to teach music at Pine Meadow Elementary School. She loved teaching there and stayed for fifteen (15) years!

While at Pine Meadow, Mrs. Hawks led many musicals and had many students participate in the All County Chorus.

In the past several years Mrs. Hawks had a very successful Talent Show which involved the entire school.

Many of the students that Mrs. Hawks taught went to Ransom Middle School and Tate High School and participated in the respective music programs.

Mrs. Hawks became eager to try something new and exciting. When she retired, it seemed to be the perfect opportunity for her to try new endeavors.

Mrs. Hawks has been married to her husband, Clay, for 23 years.

They have two sons. Josh, the oldest, is a freshman at Mississippi College and is playing football. Jonathan, the youngest, is a 7th Grader at Ransom.

Mrs. Hawks is very involved at First United Methodist and participates in the Adult Choir and helps with the Youth Choir. Her Adult Choir is going to New York this year (2007) and will sing at Carnegie Hall under the direction of John Rutter.

Mrs. Hawks is also very Proud To Be A Ransom Tiger !!!
